In Packaging business, why do you need a dieline?
Define Dieline. In the packaging and printing business, a dieline is developed as a format required to make the necessary design along with the specific artwork, to be able to create the complete physical package to hold a product.
The dieline features the following:
- fold line
- cut line
- perforation line
Perhaps you have a packaging style you genuinely adore that you want to copy how it was done. You can actually take that packaging and unfold it to find where the folds are and where the image, graphics for branding are located. The folds that you find are actually the result of a dieline.
You can create a dieline package and design it according to the packaging style you want and bring it to a manufacturer. The manufacturer will discuss with you in detail what you want, what you need, and others in order to make sure there would be no problems with manufacturing.
When creating a dieline, there are factors to consider. For a packaging dieline, you will have to determine what items or products will stay inside the package. With this and other factors in mind, the dieline designer will come up with a dieline package that will meet your needs in packaging.
You may have noticed in small boxes, on all packaging what is called eyemarks. These eyemarks tell the packaging device when to cut. Eyemarks come in various sizes, color, and even location. It depends on the equipment and on the graphics used.
When starting a new product packaging project, be sure to work with not just the graphic designer but also with the printer and the packager. This will ensure the project will go smoothly with fewer issues.
How To Make A Dieline for Your Product Package Design
To a beginner, product packaging layout specifications can be somewhat strange or even frustrating.
Aside from the package layout alone, you will find several concerns concerning FDA as well as USDA needs and also product and class specified government laws.
For food products along with consumables, dietary sections and ingredient details stick to rigid government regulations. You will find issues you can and can not express with regards to a product’s health and fitness gains and all these differ based on whether or not the item is categorized as a food product or a dietary supplement.
