Volunteers in Education
Volunteer docents provide Art Centre visitors with an enhanced experience through guided tours of our exhibitions and programs in our André Biéler Studio.
Student docents, recruited from the Queen's community, deliver school programs for local elementary classes, and family programs on weekends. Programs combine interactive looking in the galleries with art-making activities in the studio. The training sessions run from mid-September to March. The School Programs run from November to March. Recruitment takes place in March for the following academic year.
The Information/Recruitment Day is Saturday 12 March, 2011, from 1 to 3 pm, at the Art Centre. No prior application needed - just show up.
Community docents are adults from the Kingston area who give tours for the general public and booked groups, including ESL and French-language groups. For those who love art and want to engage in life-long learning, this is a rewarding opportunity. Training meetings occur bi-weekly on Mondays.
