Agnes Etherington: A Legacy

Etherington House
18 April - 18 December 2005

In 1954, Agnes Etherington bequeathed her gracious home to Queen's University for use as a public art gallery. Since 1957, the Art Centre has honoured her vision of fostering the visual arts in Kingston. This multi-faceted installation, located in the study of Etherington House, pays homage to her legacy using special educational tools. An innovative audio station will allow visitors to listen to reminiscences of Mrs Etherington, of the early years of the Art Centre and of the history and features of the House. Visitors will also be able to enjoy photographs documenting the Art Centre's history, and read about selected furnishings in the House.

The Art Centre acknowledges the George Taylor Richardson Memorial Fund, Lloyd Carr-Harris Foundation, J. P. Bickell Foundation and Ontario Arts Council for their support of this project.
